A Deep Work Setup You'll Actually Keep
Deep work isn't about a perfect desk or the right playlist. It's about removing the small decisions that pull you out of flow.
Flow dies by a thousand decisions
Deep work rarely collapses from one big interruption. It erodes through micro-decisions: what should I do next, did I reply to that, what was I doing? Each tiny choice is an exit ramp from flow. The goal of a good setup is to pre-answer those questions so none of them pull you out.
Pre-decide the target
Before a focus block, decide exactly what you'll work on — not a vague area, a specific card. When the block starts, there's no deliberation, just execution. Glancing at your Mine court in Axtio and picking one card is enough to remove the biggest flow-killer: uncertainty about what's next.
Silence the interrupters
The rest is subtraction: notifications off, extra tabs closed, phone in another room. A deep work tool should add nothing to this pile. Axtio has no notifications and no badges, so it sits quietly until you choose to look. It supports the block instead of breaking it.
Repeat until it's a habit
A setup you'll keep is a simple one. Pick the card, kill the noise, work. Do it enough times and deep work stops being an event and becomes the default.
