Time blocking works beautifully until a Tuesday explodes. Here's a version that bends instead of breaking.

Why time blocking helps

Time blocking replaces a vague to-do list with concrete appointments for your work. By deciding in advance when a task happens, you remove the exhausting all-day negotiation of 'what should I do now?' The calendar decides, and you just show up.

The failure mode: rigidity

Most time-blocking attempts die on the first chaotic day. One emergency knocks the schedule over and the whole plan feels ruined. The fix is to treat blocks as intentions, not contracts — when the day breaks, you replan quickly rather than abandon the method.

Pair blocks with a board

Time blocking answers 'when'; it doesn't answer 'what matters'. That's where a board helps. Before you block, glance at your Mine court in Axtio to see what's genuinely yours to move, then assign those items to blocks. When the day shifts, the board makes re-blocking a thirty-second task.

Block the important, protect the deep

Reserve your best hours for deep work and let shallow tasks fill the cracks. The board tells you which is which; the calendar protects the time. Together they turn planning from a wish into a system.
